Snow!

Winter was well and truly here last week. The city looked gorgeous, under a white blanket of snow.

I'm now hoping we will jump straight into spring.

[But with the current forecast for the week, and the fact it is only mid-December, I guess I have to either suck it up or emigrate]

A tourist in my own country

My mum and I went walking in the eastern part of the Netherlands for a few days last month. Lovely! I love how everything is so green! (well, how could it not be with the rain that we got..... )

[edit: these pictures turned out too tiny, but for more, go to flickr]

Ascension

My parents came to visit on Ascension day last week - so we took advantage of the weather and visited estate De Horsten after cheruchan's recommendation.

Easter

Despite the Easter holidays I'm having a very relaxed and quiet Sunday. This holiday doesn't mean anything special to me personally other than an extra day off. I had considered going to see my parents but as I had been there only two weeks ago, and I've had a really busy couple of weeks, I decided to stay at home and just relax.

That has worked perfectly. I spent the morning sleeping (after two long but very fun nights at Motel Mozaique), and the afternoon wandering through the city taking pictures and reading a book in the sun at a cafe.

My evening was spent making myself a yummy Easter dinner: chicoree/salmon lasagne. In preparation here:

And I know the end result looks like a big plate of mush, but it was actually pretty good!

Tomorrow will be more of the same. Yay.

Just like Japan

365 - December

Woohoo, I made it through another month of daily pictures.

I'm cheating slightly on this shot from December, but hey, I'm not nerdy enough to figure out how to do it differently.

One month

(I've used an extremely roundabout way to get the above picture in here - if you want to see the above pictures better, go here!)

365

I tried to do this a year ago (here) and failed.

So, I'm attempting again - inspired by a group of other internet acquaintances.

My pictures will be up at flickr, of course.

I'm hoping that this will encourage me to be a bit more active and creative with my camera, instead of only taking pictures when I'm travelling.
Anyone want to take bets on how long I will last? ;-)

De-stressing

I've just returned from spending a few days away from home, and my computer, and discovering an unknown part of my country: the Veluwe. Gorgeous area, and although the Netherlands never gets truly wild, I think this part probably comes as close as it gets. We even saw wild boars! Unfortunately all the cyclists on the third day were a bit annoying, so we were always looking forward to get off the asphalt and really into the woods again.

Some pictures below, and more on here, as always.

Malaysia pictures

Am making use of my first day at home to unpack and get some of my photos that I took online. Here are a couple to see, the rest with a few explanations are on flickr, as always.

View from KL Tower

Late night supper with friends on Saturday night - a great welcome to KL!

Palm trees all over the place, and now I finally know and understand where palmoil comes from.

I almost forgot: Madrid

Madrid
Originally uploaded by macchi.

So, yes, we also went to Madrid. I forgot about posting about it - maybe because it didn't really leave an impression. Or maybe because I was so overwhelmed by Morocco.

Well, within the time that we had, we didn't do that much anyway. Walked around, stalked the staff at all the Camper-shops, had lunch, coffee, and headed back to the airport.

The area I liked most was Chueca (sp?) - great little shops and coffee places. Really cool.

Would like to go back once to spend a weekend there, do the museums, eat tapas and drink wine until late at night, discover the nightlife - but for now, it's not that high on my list anymore.

Ain't I fast? Piiiiictures!

Well, this was a productive day - Moroccan stories and pictures sorted out straight after returning. A quick preview here, have a look at flickr for everything else (there are a lot!).
