Snow!

Winter was well and truly here last week. The city looked gorgeous, under a white blanket of snow.

I'm now hoping we will jump straight into spring.

[But with the current forecast for the week, and the fact it is only mid-December, I guess I have to either suck it up or emigrate]

Snow Snow Snow

As in a big part of Northern Europe I think, the weather had been insane here - it's been snowing on and off for four days, but today has been the heaviest snowfall yet. I can't remember a time when it stayed for this long. And there's more expected. My mum just called to tell me to bring my iceskates when I go to their place for the holidays this week as people are already iceskating on natural ice! Insane.

Winter

Pictures from this afternoon's long walk at the beach - I love this winter weather: very cold, but blue skies and not too windy. I hope it'll last for another few weeks. I can't wait to go ice skating again!

Spring?!

Last Friday, 21st March, was the first day of spring. And it felt like spring a week before.

So why has it been snowing almost non-stop since Friday afternoon? And why does the Netherlands stop working when it does?

New traditions

I'm almost on my way to a newyear's eve party. As always (well, the last four years at least), we're barbequeing (mind you, in winter) with a fairly fixed group of people by now.

When I would tell people about it at first, they'd look at me weirdly. By now, I just got a shrug and a 'oh right, again huh'. Teehee.
