Had my first official work discussion with my boss today - what I should be aiming for in the next year, what is expected of me, that kind of stuff.
No mention so far about my performance (I suppose I should take that as a good thing) except to say that I need to be less quiet. *sigh* When will people ever stop saying that?
But, best part of the plan for the next few months: "You really should be looking at and planning of future visits to your countries." Teehee.
So, when's the best time to visit Malaysia? I think I'll hold off on South (and North?) Korea until after spring...

winter in malaysia is ok i think? don't know when the monsoon is, but i do know you want to avoid that one :-)
btw, i still got a little sth waiting here for you as a thank you for taking care of fluffy & garfield...
oh, and it took me about a month to be my full self at work (as opposed to not saying a word), so if you're boss's a bit patient it will all work out fine :-)
Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb are all great months to visit Malaysia - their winter time, so no monsoon and not too hot and sticky.
I went to South Korea in October (or maybe it was Nov?) last year, and it was already cool (jeans, sweater and a jacket).
Are you really going to visit North Korea? If so, you probably have to go in through Beijing. It seems like a fascinating place and I must admit that I would love to visit there, but part of me also doesn't want my tourist dollars going to support that regime.
As for your appraisal... being told that you are too quiet isn't that bad. When I was working in Dubai, my boss (the evil psycho woman) told me that she found me really hard to read since I "don't show a lot of emotion." It was more case of me always being on my guard around her, since she tended to play people off against each other.
yeah, i suppose European winter would be best. not sure if i can pull it off that quickly though!
Jules, yeah, it'd be pretty interesting going to North Korea... I've been interested to go for a few years but well. Currently there's a little bit of interest workwise, and hey, someone's gotta go find out what kind of opportunities are really there, right?! (but honestly, I doubt it'll happen).
Was in S-Korea in March once. Freaking cold! Brrrr.
Oh, and the quiet comment. I know, it doesn't bother me that much. Especially because I know/think I'm doing all the right things currently. I just wish people could be slightly more original! But this is better than hearing you're not doing your job well, huh...
